Šibenik, the pearl of the Croatian Adriatic, is situated near the mouth of the river Krka submerged, in the most picturesque part of the eastern Adriatic coast. Wealth of cultural and historical heritage of the city is evidenced by the impressive cathedral of St. James (Sveti Jakov), built to a design by the famous Croatian architect Juraj Dalmatinac (Giorgio Orsini). In addition to his cathedral, under the auspices of UNESCO, Sibenik boasts a large number of churches, convents and monasteries, palaces and fortresses that four "frame" the city. In the suburbs there are two national parks: Krka and Kornati, with landscapes so beautiful to be left speechless.
