This archipelago consists of 7 islands: Gorgona, Capraia, Elba, Pianosa, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri. The Tuscan Archipelago National Park, the largest marine park in Europe, protects 56,766 hectares of sea and 17,887 hectares of land. It includes all the seven main islands and several smaller islets and reefs. About 80 miles (150 km) separate the island of Gorgona, the northernmost and the smallest, from Giannutri the southernmost. In the middle, there are Capraia, Elba, Pianosa, Montecristo and Giglio. Each island retains traces of its history, each island is unique, original, with only one thing in common: the beauty of nature.
